2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs 2020 Lexus RX

The GLE is an executive-level luxury crossover that again established leadership in this segment for 2020.  The agility and aerodynamics make more fun to drive, and the available horsepower levels offer the right amount for your needs. It’s also important to compare the GLE to other luxury SUVs to demonstrate its capabilities. Here, we compare it to the Lexus RX.

Top performance in the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE

When performance counts, the GLE provides. The GLE 350 4MATIC 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder features 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The GLE 450 4MATIC 3.0L turbocharged six-cylinder with EQ Boost raises the output to 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. When you need the ultimate in performance, the AMG GLE 53 stacks up 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft or torque.

The RX also features two engines in their lineup. A 3.5L six-cylinder petrol engine produces up to 295 horsepower in the RX 350 and RX 350 L, and a 308-horsepower hybrid is found in the 450h and 450h L. Overall, the GLE delivers two more powerful engines that help you unleash the performance you need, with up to 121 more horsepower.

The GLE also has the better transmission. Each trim features a nine-speed automatic that delivers smooth shifting and better acceleration than traditional automatic transmissions. The RX’s eight-speed automatic falls short and the hybrid’s continuously variable transmission doesn’t have the same dynamic feel.

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE is more than luxury

The GLE is much more than luxury and performance. It doesn’t forget about utility with over 2,000 litres of cargo volume behind the front seats, and that’s at least 353 more litres than what the RX series offers. It also includes 691 litres of cargo capacity behind the rear seats, which is twice the volume of many sedan trunks.

All occupants have more space to move around in the GLE. With more head and shoulder room in the front row and more head, leg, and shoulder room in the rear, the GLE provides an optimum environment for any trip.

The GLE includes other features not found in the RX, including automatic parking, an extensive off-road mode available, and a Wi-Fi hotspot - all of which greatly enhance your driving, entertainment, and connectivity experiences.
