The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA has better petrol power
The GLA lineup features three models: GLA 250, AMG GLA 35, and AMG GLA 45. The GLA 250 includes a turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder that produces 221 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It offers more performance than the XC40's entry T4 engine, which is rated at just 187 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque on the Momentum model.
If you want the capability of the 250's power, you must upgrade from a T4 to a T5 engine, but it still leaves you with base model features. That becomes an even more expensive proposition since you'll have to pay several thousands more just to get on par with the GLA 250.
The AMG GLA 35 increases the GLA's capabilities to 302 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, leaving the remaining gas XC40 models in the dust. The AMG GLA 45 extends the lead over the XC40 by well over 130 horsepower.
The GLA features dual-clutch shifting with its standard eight-speed transmission. This enhances performance by providing faster shifting, and this transitions any GLA into a real performer.
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA offers an exciting interior
The GLA features 1,430 litres of flexible cargo capacity behind the front seats, which is up to 93 litres more than the XC40. Foldable seating in the rear provides flexible combinations of passengers and cargo, opening new solutions for your lifestyle.
The GLA also features the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX). This is a new generation of tech that advances the way drivers and passengers connect with the vehicle. Voice and touchscreen commands control many functions while the system uses artificial intelligence to improve communications and learn driver needs. The result is a user experience that is second to none in the automotive industry. The XC40 does not offer this technology.
