2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs. 2021 Porsche Cayenne: The GLE Makes Your Investment Go Further

The verdict is out. The Mercedes-Benz GLE is the best luxury SUVs in its class. Combining more refinements, advanced drivetrain technologies, exclusive Mercedes styling, and new innovations, the GLE is the talk of the segment for 2021.

Several other luxury competitors are trying to be the best in the segment. However, the GLE has much more to offer. Here, we compare the GLE to the 2021 Porsche Cayenne.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE has a stronger value proposition

One of the greatest differences between the GLE and the Porsche Cayenne is price. The base GLE 350 begins around $69,900 and the entry Cayenne at $77,500. For entry Cayenne price, the GLE 450 is available with 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, which is more than the entry Cayenne with 335 horsepower.

The third-level GLE is the AMG GLE 53 with an MSRP of $92,500. It is fitted with a turbo V6 that develops 429 horsepower. Interestingly, the GLE 53 starts less than many Cayenne models that develop just a few more horsepower and an MSRP range of up to $126,500.

The top GLE trim, the AMG GLE 63 S, has an MSRP of $133,300 and features a 603-horsepower twin turbo eight cylinder. This is nearly $20,000 less than the Cayenne Turbo Coupe with 541 horsepower.

The two remaining Cayenne models feature a 670 horsepower engine, but start at $185,600 and $192,200. This equates to $52,300-$58,900 for 67 more horsepower and a few more bells and whistles.

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a top safety pick

Let's face it, both of these vehicles are meant to be driven. That's why safety is so important. The GLE emerges with a 2021 IIHS Top Safety Pick + rating. This includes Superior ratings in front crash prevention, brake assist, driver assistance packages, and more.

Moreover, the GLE features the MBUX system, which is the brand’s new multimedia system that uses Artificial Intelligence to provide a premium experience. MBUX can be controlled using a touchpad, steering-wheel-mounted controls and the touchscreen display. A simple “Hey Mercedes” command unleashes a choice of user-controlled parameters than make your driving experience much more advanced than in the Porsche Cayenne.
