2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE vs. 2022 Audi Q7: The GLE has so Much More to Offer

The Mercedes-Benz GLE has mastered the art of balancing versatility and performance in a luxurious midsize luxury SUV. It features outstanding signature Mercedes-Benz styling, a wide choice of powertrains ranging from 255 horsepower to 603 horsepower and technologies that surpass all rivals in the segment. This comfortable, luxurious family hauler is built for families who need more than just transport, but a home away from home.

Here, we compare the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE with the 2022 Audi Q7.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE takes the lead in terms of performance

The Mercedes-Benz GLE has a powertrain for every type of driver. The base GLE 350 gets a four cylinder, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that outputs 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and only consumes 9.0 L/100 km when cruising on the highway.

The Q7’s base engine is a less powerful 248-horsepower four-cylinder that is less efficient, with a highway rating of 10.1 L/100 km on the highway. It is mated to a less flexible 8-speed automatic transmission. The GLE also has the 450 variant, which is powered by a six-cylinder, 3.0-Litre turbocharged engine with an output of 362 horsepower. The competing Q7 55 TFSI powertrain maxes out at 355 horsepower.

Drivers looking to get even more out of their SUV will love the GLE’s AMG models. For example, the top AMG 63 S 4MATIC+ delivers 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. This is much more than the Q7’s top model, the SQ7, which maxes out at 500 horsepower and 567 lb-ft of torque.

The GLE outranks every competing Audi Q7 variant in terms of performance. That’s a fact!

More space and tech inside the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE

The Mercedes-Benz GLE showcases the brands expert craftsmanship in terms of materials and refinements. But the GLE also delivers in practicality, with a total of 2,055 litres of cargo space when all passenger seats are folded. The Audi Q7 can only provide 1,971 litres.

The GLE is more advanced than the Q7 in terms of technologies. For example, it is fitted with the advanced Mercedes-Benz User Experience system (MBUX), which uses artificial intelligence to assist the driver and passengers on the road.
